Kashmir is home to some of the most beautiful Mughal Gardens, known for their Persian-style layouts, cascading terraces, and vibrant flower beds. Here are six famous Mughal gardens in Kashmir:

1. Shalimar Bagh

Built by Emperor Jahangir in 1619 for his wife, Noor Jahan, Shalimar Bagh is the largest Mughal garden in Kashmir. It features three terraces, stunning chinar trees, and a central water channel.

2. Nishat Bagh

Also known as the “Garden of Bliss,” this 12-terraced garden was built by Asif Khan, Noor Jahan’s brother, in 1633. It offers breathtaking views of Dal Lake with its cascading fountains and lush greenery.

3. Chashme Shahi

Meaning “Royal Spring,” Chashme Shahi was built in 1632 by Shah Jahan. The garden is famous for its fresh mountain spring believed to have medicinal properties, along with terraced lawns and vibrant flowers.

4. Pari Mahal

Perched on the Zabarwan hills overlooking Dal Lake, Pari Mahal was built by Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Shah Jahan. Known as the “Palace of Fairies,” it features arched structures, manicured terraces, and a mesmerizing view of Srinagar.

5. Achabal Bagh

Commissioned by Empress Noor Jahan in the early 17th century, Achabal Bagh is known for its natural spring, terraced lawns, and intricate water channels, making it one of the most picturesque gardens in Kashmir.

6. Verinag Garden

Located at the source of the Jhelum River, Verinag Garden was built by Emperor Jahangir. Its octagonal spring, surrounded by beautiful chinar trees and Mughal-style pavilions, is a serene retreat.

These Mughal Gardens are a testament to the grandeur of the Mughal era and remain some of the most enchanting attractions in Kashmir.
